She rounds the corner, almost collides with the end-of-the-world guy, and knocks him off his dingy Crocks.

"Repent! Watch where you're going! The end is near! Do you have a cell phone I can borrow? Repent!" he continues without missing a beat.

She glances back, shouting a quick apology over her shoulder. "Sorry, no, maybe later. Gotta save the world!"

Beth enters Glasstown and sees that everybody's home. Beth enters Glasstown, her father's brainchild from his second year of presidency. He had this grand idea that all the world's problems stemmed from lies, secrecy, and sneakiness. So, he declared that every house in Glasstown must be made of glass. Transparency became the norm, and everyone could see what their neighbours were up to. Everyone could see what everyone was doing. Surprisingly, this led to significantly fewer crimes against fellow citizens (particularly the infamous rock-throwing incidents). And, as an added bonus, unemployment rates are almost non-existent, courtesy of the sand mining industry, constantly in demand for constructing more glass houses.
